FAQ's
Is the setup really as easy as they say, or is there a catch?
Is the setup really as easy as they say, or is there a catch?
There's no catch. You take it out of the box, wipe the inside of the basket with a damp cloth, fill the water tank, plug it into any standard wall outlet, and press start. That's genuinely the entire setup. No tools. No plumber. No instruction video. Most people have it running within five minutes of opening the box. The first batch of ice is ready 10–15 minutes after that.
How is nugget ice different from regular ice? Is it actually worth it?
How is nugget ice different from regular ice? Is it actually worth it?
Yes — and once you try it you'll understand immediately. Nugget ice is soft and chewable, which means it doesn't crack your teeth, it absorbs the flavour of your drink, and it chills everything more evenly than a hard cube. It's the ice Sonic built a cult following around. It's what hospitals use because patients actually request it by name. Hard ice cubes water your drink down fast and sit there like rocks. Nugget ice becomes part of the drink. It's a genuinely different experience.
How loud is it when it's running?
How loud is it when it's running?
It runs at a similar noise level to a standard kitchen refrigerator — a low, consistent hum. It's not silent, but it's not disruptive either. Most people run it in the kitchen while watching TV, having conversations, or working from home nearby without it being an issue. You'll hear it, but it won't bother you.
How often do I need to refill the water tank?
How often do I need to refill the water tank?
The 1.8L tank typically lasts several hours depending on how frequently you're using the ice. For most households using it steadily throughout the day, you'll refill it once or twice. It takes about 30 seconds. The LED display shows an "Add Water" indicator so you always know when it needs a top-up — you'll never come back to an empty machine wondering what happened.
Does it need a water line or any kind of installation?
Does it need a water line or any kind of installation?
No water line. No installation. No plumber. No drilling into cabinets. It's fully self-contained — the tank is the only water source it needs. You fill it by hand, click it back in, and that's it. The only thing it needs from your home is a standard electrical outlet.
What happens to the ice if I don't use it right away — does it melt quickly?
What happens to the ice if I don't use it right away — does it melt quickly?
The storage basket has upgraded insulation that keeps ice solid for a reasonable amount of time after it's made. It's not a freezer, so ice will eventually melt if left for extended periods — but for normal use, grabbing ice throughout the day, it holds up well. If you're not planning to use it for several hours, simply turn the machine off and the insulation will do its job until you're back.
